On April 25, 2014 two drums of hydraulic oil fell into the water while being loaded onto a vessel at Berth 223. TCSSI is proud to Award PTB Engineers, George Stanmore & Fernando Avelar for their quick actions in securing the drums into cargo nets for removal. Their commitment to safety greatly reduced a serious environmental impact to our Tampa Bay waters; keep up the good work guys!
In January 2014 Mr. John Esposito (left), Director of Health, Safety, Environmental and Security for Ports America conducted a series of Port Tampa Bay Walkabouts. The Walkabouts were part of an increased emphasis on workplace safety initiated by Paul Anderson (right), president and CEO of Port Tampa Bay. TCSSI is proud to present this Safety Award to Mr. Esposito at our 2014 Annual Safety & Risk Mitigation Summit.

On May 20, 2012 TCSSI awarded the Tampa Port Authority Operation’s and Security Departments with the Accommodation of Safety Awareness for their service during the Presidential visit in April. The advanced preparation involved in such an event requires detailed safety and security planning and intensive coordination with the Secret Service. Thanks to Mark Dubina, Vice President of the TPA Security Department and staff representing both security and operations, this was accomplished with the highest degree of professionalism. The initiative displayed is a fine example of the cooperation that epitomizes what the TCSSI stands for.
On December 7, 2011 Jose Ramos, David Waytovich and Aldona Weekley were awarded the TCSSI Safety Award for going above and beyond the call of duty on November 19, 2011 when a passenger at the Tampa Port Authority Cruise Terminal 2 suffered an apparent heart attack while attempting to board the cruise vessel Inspiration. One of the primary goals of the Tampa Cooperative Safety & Security Initiative is commending positive action taken by port users. This award notes that the actions of these three were above and beyond the call of duty. They have earned the recognition of this organization as well as our appreciation and thanks for a job well done.
On Tuesday, October 25, 2011 Ms. Lynne Vadelund of CF Industries is recognized for her recent suggestion and dedication to safety in researching and presenting an alternative for sharp knives in the workplace with a contact retractable blade knife.
On October 25, 2011 Mr. Bruce Cameron is awarded the TCSSI Safety Award as a result of his recent work and dedication to safety in conducting two TCSSI “Walkabouts” at cruise terminals 2 and 6. Bruce is a charter member of the TCSI and his dedication is well noted by the other participants.
